Discounts for Retired and Emeritus Faculty
Virginia Commonwealth University emeriti faculty members and faculty who retire in good standing are eligible for discounts on both campuses. The list below reflects discounts available to all retired and emeritus faculty members. Discounts and privileges are offered and managed by the vendor listed and may be subject to change. Most discounts require a valid Retired/Emeritus VCUCard. Visit the VCUCard Office website for information.
Barnes & Noble - Monroe Park Campus and MCV Campus locations
The 10% discount for faculty/staff is available to all retired and emeritus faculty members. Retired/Emeritus VCUCard required.
The Commonwealth Society
The Commonwealth Society, a program for adults of all ages, features short courses, lecture series and travel opportunities from the School of the Arts. Visit https://arts.vcu.edu/community/the-commonwealth-society/ for more information.
Libraries – James Branch Cabell and Health Sciences locations
Retired and emeritus faculty members retain the same privileges as active faculty, with no restrictions, including access to Interlibrary Loan. Retired/Emeritus VCUCard required.*
MCV Campus Recreation Center and Cary Street Gym
Retired and emeritus faculty members are offered the same membership rate as active faculty, $260 annually or $21.67 per month.** Retired/Emeritus VCUCard required. Visit recsports.vcu.edu for more information.

Tuition-free courses
Virginia residents 60 years or older may take courses without paying tuition or mandatory fees with the Senior Citizens Higher Education Program, under certain conditions. Visit rar.vcu.edu/registration/senior for full details and eligibility requirements about the tuition waiver qualifications.
VCU Athletics
Retired and emeritus faculty members are offered discounted tickets ($4.00) to VCU Soccer, Volleyball, Women’s Basketball and Baseball games. Retired/Emeritus VCUCard required at ticket window on game day.
VCU Dining Services
Retired and emeritus faculty members receive a 10% discount off the door rate at Shafer Court Dining Center’s Market 810 buffet-style dining (upstairs). Retired/Emeritus VCUCard required.
VCU eID and email
Retired faculty members may keep their VCU e-mail accounts as long as they remain in a university relationship and are listed in an official university database (HRS, Banner or the Affiliate databases). Interested retirees should check with their departments and request inclusion in the Affiliate database prior to departure to assure no disruption to access.
VCU HR discounts

VCU Theatre
Retired and emeritus faculty members may purchase tickets to TheatreVCU productions at the same rate as active faculty members; requires Retired/Emeritus VCUCard. Visit arts.vcu.edu/theatre for schedule and tickets.
* The personnel administrator for each department is responsible for updating the faculty record in Banner to change the status to RET or EMER as appropriate so the faculty member retains online access to library collections. If the department does not make the change, the faculty status changes to “former employee” and access will be lost. Libraries can not change or update a faculty member’s status.
** Price based on monthly billing and a minimum contract of one year. Additional pricing and membership options are available, including a discounted yearly flat rate.
