Parking for Retired and Emeritus Faculty
The continued involvement of retired and emeritus faculty members in campus events is a vital part of VCU's mission and culture. The Office of the Provost, in partnership with VCU Parking and Transportation, wants to ensure retired and emeritus faculty members have an enjoyable and accessible experience when visiting campus.
Qualifications
To qualify for a retired/emeritus faculty parking permit, the faculty member must meet the following terms:
- The faculty member must present a valid Retired or Emeritus Faculty VCUCard* at a Parking and Transportation office location.
- The faculty member must have been a VCU Parking subscriber for their last five years of employment with VCU.
Once qualified, the permit will be mailed to the faculty member's home address, with parking available via a temporary decal and/or VCUCard in the interim.
*VCUCard can only issue the Retired or Emeritus Faculty card once a faculty member's department/office has processed the status of retired/emeritus in Banner. VCUCard requires documentation of the retired/emeritus status to issue the card and suggests contacting their office before coming in to confirm the status is updated in Banner. Visit vcucard.vcu.edu/services/vcucard/get for more information and to contact VCUCard.
Renewal
Permit holders will receive an automatic permit renewal every year, regardless of any changes in status in the Banner system. The retired/emeritus status will override all other statuses for the purposes of parking.
Each year, Parking and Transportation will review usage of all retired/emeritus permits. If the permit has not been used within the last two years, Parking and Transportation will send a letter to the permit holder giving the option for renewal, which can be done by calling 828-PARK (7275).

Retired or emeritus faculty members are encouraged to contact VCUCard prior to visiting to confirm their status in the system.
