The primary purpose of the VCU Faculty Handbook revision is to modernize its structure, expand essential resources, and improve navigational clarity across all instructional, administrative, and professional development domains. Guided by AAUP national best practices, the framework redefines the handbook’s scope which highlights links to existing policies and resources. Furthermore, aligned with institutional feedback from COACHE Steering Committee reports and benchmarked against peer institutions like Virginia Tech, the revisions are driven by the principles of enhancing shared governance, strengthening workplace transparency while also referencing relevant policies that support faculty advancement and student success.
