Provost Fotis Sotiropoulos invites you to the ICA for the next installment of the Provost's Lecture Series and the VCU Faculty Club - two popular, faculty-focused events now combined.  This newly formatted forum provides for presentation and discussion of current transdisciplinary research projects, a roundtable of peers exploring opportunities for transdisciplinary research, and a social gathering for networking with university colleagues.

About the lecture

Tobacco regulatory science involves generating data that inform policy intended to reduce the disease and death caused by tobacco products.  Transdisciplinary science occurs when researchers from different fields integrate their expertise in a joint problem solving effort.  In this discussion, Drs. Eissenberg and Guy trace the development of transdisciplinary tobacco regulatory science at the FDA/NIH-funded Center for the Study of Tobacco Products (CSTP) at VCU.  They then outline the rationale and plans for centering health equity in CSTP's work, in an effort to redress long-standing disparities in tobacco-caused disease and death in the United States.
